The Shiva Linga or Lingam is a symbol that represents Lord Shiva in Hinduism. As the most powerful of deities, temples are built in his honor that includes a Shiva Linga, representing all the energies of the world and beyond. 

Seshnag is a large thousand headed serpent often referred to as the king of all serpents in the Hindu mythology.   • Shravan Maas begins in July and ends August every year. Considered to be the holiest month as per Hindu scriptures, this is the best month to worship lord Shiva. According to Shiva Purana, those who observe fast during Shravan Maas have their desires fulfilled and are blessed with the grace of Shiva. Pooja to remove obstacle of marriage is done.
  • Devotees who observe Shiva Puja can see drastic changes in their health as this puja helps in improving their health and protect them from deadly diseases. Pitra dosha nivaran pooja, kaalsarp nivaran pooja, mangal dosh nivaran pooja is also done on this month.
  • Chanting Mantras like Om Namah Shivay and Maha Mrituynjay jaap can protect one from danger and untimely death. Worship of Lord shiva with Rudra sukt is also very beneficial. Wearing a charged Rudraksh is also beneficial.
  • According to legends, worshiping Lord Shiva can bring you closer to the salvation of your soul or Moksh Prapti. Pooja to get a healthy and wealthy life is done on month of shravan.
  • According to the ancient belief, those who perform monday fasting is blessed with happiness and all the pleasures of the world. His all the desires are fulfilled. Donation and charity made on this day gives fruits equivalent to that of visiting Jyotirlinga.

  • केवड़ा तथा चम्पा के फूल न चढ़ाएं। गुलाब और गेंदा किसी पुजारी से पूछकर ही चढ़ाएं।
  • कनेर, धतूरे, आक, चमेली, जूही के फूल चढ़ा सकते हैं।

  • If you have taken the effort to establish a shivling at home, then care must be taken to not offer some things to the Shivling --- as we all know, inviting the wrath of Lord Shiva can land all of us in trouble! Here are the things you should not do if you have a Shivling at home.
  • Don't establish the Shivling at a place where you can't worship it everyday -- make sure that you keep it in a clutter free and clean space where you can pray to it everyday.
  • Turmeric is said to enhance the beauty of a woman, however it should not be offered to a Shivling, since that is a symbol of the male deity Shiva. Sindoor
  • One should not offer sindoor or vermilion to a Shivling, since sindoor is used by women to increase the life span of their husbands and since Shiva is the God of destruction, he should not be offered such things.
  • Changing positions If you are changing the position of the Shivling, make sure that you wash it with some gangaajal and cold milk before keeping it at a separate place
